We mournfully have to share the passing of William Kenneth Walker on August 28, 2024. He had reached 76 at the time of his passing. Bill had resided in Silver Spring, Maryland for over 23 years with his loving wife Hae. We lost him due to his multi year bout with cancer.
Bill was born on July 1, 1948 in Joliette, Illinois. His parents were William Kenneth Walker and Marie Helen Roser. He grew up in nearby Downers Grove, Illinois. He went to undergraduate school at Northwestern and was a proud Wildcat Football player. After undergraduate school he eventually made his way to San Francisco and studied law at Golden Gate University. After San Francisco he made his way to Anchorage, Alaska and practiced law there for many years. He was barred in multiple states, which is no easy task. There was a big move from Anchorage, Alaska to the Washington DC Metro Area in which Bill attended George Washington University to become a specialist in Government Contracting Law. After that he was able to bring some major assistance to his clients and was highly sought after for his expertise. He ultimately ended his time at Chenega and they have expressed how much he will be missed. Bill was a big sports fan and loved the Packers, Cubs, Wildcats and the local DC teams. We were all able to attend many games and created many memories piling into a car and visiting various stadiums around the east coast. He was a lifelong Cubs fan and I knew how happy he was that they won a World Series in his lifetime! Bill was a voracious reader. He also loved comedy and telling jokes that made everyone laugh. His favorite movies were Blazing Saddles and My Cousin Vinny. He also enjoyed spending his summers relaxing and reminiscing in their Door County home in Ellison Bay. As a child he grew up spending summers in Door County, so it was a full circle moment to be able to own a summer home there.
Bill is survived by his wife, Hae, his two sons, Daniel and Peter, his sister, Terry, brother-in-law Delac, his niece, his nephew and the bestest boy, Cocoa. He was predeceased by his son, Joshua Walker and his parents William Walker and Marie Walker.
There will be a small gathering on Friday, September 6 at Norbeck Memorial Park in Olney, MD. Thank you to all the friends and family for your support during these difficult times.
