The family moved to Pennsylvania in 1939, where Saul attended school. He served in South Korea in the Army during the Korean War. After returning to civilian life, he graduated from Drexel University, in Pittsburgh, PA. He was employed at the Library of Congress for many years, rising through the ranks to a supervisory position in his department, retiring in 2002. He loved sailing, and was especially fond of hiking. He hiked many times on the Appalachian Trail of the Blue Ridge Mountains. He also enjoyed sailing on the Chesapeake Bay with his many friends.
His late wife, Cherie Goldsteen Snyder passed away in 1999. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Bergemann Snyder, and his son, Merrill Craig Snyder. He is also survived by his daughter, Elese Lupuloff, and grandson, Zachary Lupuloff.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Shiva is at the family residence. Memorial contributions may be sent to NYU-Langone Medical Center Schizophrenic Research Studies, New York, NY, or the University of Maryland School of Nursing Nurse Anesthesiology Program, Baltimore, MD. Services entrusted to Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home.
