Sally died peacefully with family by her side on December 1, 2024, in Silver Spring, MD. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, and found immeasurable joy spending time with her great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charlie, of 68 years, and is survived by their three children: Jeff (Linda), Michael (Nancy), and Sue (John) Kilroy; four granddaughters: Kim (Trey) Hockman, Christina (Brandon) Conway, Hanna (Adam) Watson, and Madi (Shannon) Hardy; and five great-granddaughters: Maebre, Meyer, Maren, Larkyn, and Lakely.
For decades, Sally sang in the Washington National Cathedral Choral Society, performing once for the Queen of England. She also served on the Cathedral's Altar Guild, creating magnificent floral arrangements. As a teacher's aide, she left a positive, lasting impression on both students and faculty at Takoma Junior High School. As an avid reader, books were never far from her side. Her grace, patience, humor, and practicality taught us all many life lessons, and she will be forever missed by her family and countless dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society, Alzheimer's Association, or Humane Society. A celebration of life will be held in the spring.
