He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and grandfather. He started his welding career in the late 1960's at the Washington Gas Company In 1972 established Blair Welding and MFG in Ijamsville Maryland. When he wasn't working he loved cooking, fishing and driving his corvette. He was known for his delicious gourmet meals and desserts that he loved to share with his friends and family. He and Hanna were members of the Freestate Corvette Club and enjoyed taking trips around the DMV area. Originally from Connelsville, PA he relocated his life to the DC area in the 1960s where he met his wife Hanna (Thieberger) Blair. They celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary in May. They have two children Keri Blair Walden (53, of Union City, NJ) and Daniel Blair (51, of Bethesda MD) married to Rachel (Gaudet) Blair. Also one grandson Dylan Reed Blair (14) who he was extremely proud of.
Skip believed in family and community. He established very deep roots in the Montgomery and Frederick country area. He took a great deal of pride in everything produced by his fabrication company.
In 2015 he was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. As with most challenges he faced in life he took it in stride and fought hard against the perils of the disease.
He will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Funeral Service: Sunday, Nov 3, 2024 at 12:30 PM in the Chapel at Garden of Remembrance Memorial Park located at 14321 Comus Road, Clarksburg, MD 20871.
