Elaine H. Rosenblum died peacefully on October 5, 2024, having enjoyed over 94 years a life lived to the fullest. Born in Brooklyn, New York to Bertha and Charles Hoffman, she met her future husband Howard at CCNY where she graduated with an anthropology degree. After getting married in 1950, they moved to Southeast Washington DC, where Elaine worked for the U.S. Public Health Service. She and Howard moved to Silver Spring MD in 1957 and raised four sons.
Elaine volunteered for Planned Parenthood, led senior adult programs at the Jewish Community Center, and was a devoted fan of Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Donna Leon mysteries, MSNBC, and the Washington Redskins. Her greatest joys were her three (going on four) great-grandchildren (Ashlyn, Toby, and Evelyn), eight grandchildren (Wes, David, Ben, Hannah, Sarah, Zoe, Amy, and Jeff), and four sons (Mark, Paul, Don, and Joel).
In 2010 she moved to Ingleside at King Farm and immediately made an array of new friends, actively participated in the speakers program and fundraising committees, and played bridge multiple times a week.
Elaine was predeceased by her husband Howard and her sister Carol, and is survived by her sister Natalie.
Although a spinal cord injury deprived her of mobility in the last few years, she never lost her sense of humor, intelligence, and insight. She will be sorely missed, but her family is comforted by the fact that she lived, and left, her life on her own terms and is grateful for the wonderful staff and her many friends at IKF who helped make that possible. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Elaine’s memory may be made to the Ingleside-King Farm Resident Supporting Fund, c/o Westminster Ingleside Foundation, 2275 Research Blvd., Rockville, MD 20850
