He was born on May 29, 1941 in Cairo, IL. to the late Harland and Iler Howell Gilmer.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sikeston, MO. Larry was a self-employed farmer until his retirement in 1999; he was a member of the “Matthews Coffee Shop”. He loved to crappie fish and go to his grandkids ball games.
On September 7, 1974 in Canalou, MO. he married Monica Lee Gilmer who survives of the home in Sikeston, MO.
Other survivors include two sons, Matt (Michelle) Gilmer of Sikeston, MO. and Chad (Cameron) Parker of Campbell, MO.; two daughters, Dana (Danny) Farrenburg of Kewanee, MO. and Dona Sullenger of Sikeston, MO.; one brother, Bruce Gilmer of Farrenburg, MO.; one sister Janice Schuerenberg of Ashland, MO.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Harland Gilmer Jr.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until time of memorial service at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at First United Methodist Church in Sikeston, MO. Rev. Jennifer Moxley, officiating.
A private burial will be held at a later date.
