MURPHY, Ralph MacLean – 90, Milford, passed away October 3, 2011 in White Hills Long Term Care Centre, Hammonds Plains, with his family by his side. He was born September 9, 1921, in Lake Egmont. He was the third son of the late Edgar and Florence (Atkinson) Murphy. He was a member of the Milford- Lantz United Church and a former member of Maple Leaf Lodge No.89 I.O.O.F. Milford and Nova Scotia Woodlot owners Association. His early life was spent working the family farm in Lake Egmont. In 1944 he and his parents and sister Edna moved to the Goff Farm in Milford Station where he farmed until 1970. After selling the farm he spent the next twenty years doing carpentry and working on his own wood lot. He is survived by his wife Bessie (Reid), son Barry (Marlene), Bridgewater; daughter Wanda, Hammonds Plains; grandchildren Kelsey and Scott Murphy; sister Edna Baker, Middle Musquodoboit; many nieces and nephews. Ralph was predeceased by his siblings Gladys MacKay, Edith Spares, John Murphy, Florence Langille, Roy Murphy, Blanche Burnett, Frances Kellough, Mabel Spares and Reta Skinner. No visitation by request. Funeral service 11am, Saturday, October 8, 2011 in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie, Lori Crocker D.M. officiating. A reception will be held at the funeral home following the service. A private family committal will be held in Gays River Cemetery. Family flowers only.
