William "Billy" Puckett, age 92, of Blanchard, Louisiana passed away on Monday, November 11, 2024. Billy was born on August 15, 1932 in Bloomburg, Texas to the late William Raymond and Lora Ellen Coleman Puckett.
Billy proudly served his country as a U.S. Army veteran during the Korean Conflict and dedicated 22 years as a skilled carpenter at the VA Hospital. He was a man of rare character---one whose presence left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Billy embodied the virtues of hard work, humility, and kindness, always putting others first and remaining selfless to the very end.
A man of unwavering Christian faith, Billy lived according to his beliefs, offering love, compassion, and support to everyone he encountered. His fierce independence and resolute determination were hallmarks of his life, and his commitment to doing what was right never faltered. His legacy is one of integrity, strength, and deep love for family and friends.
Billy was preceded in passing by his parents, his sister, Martha Sue Lummus, and his son, David Martin Puckett.
Left to cherish Billy's wonderful memories will be his beloved wife of 73 years, Estelle Martin Puckett, one daughter, Sue Ellen McCoy (Doug), two granddaughters: Katie Moore (Ray), Kelly Poole (Ben), five great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn Nesbit (Matthew), Hallie Rae Moore, Nate Poole, McKenna Poole, Jackson Poole, along with many extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
Memorials may be made in honor of William "Billy" Puckett to Northpoint Methodist Church, 6675 LA-1, Shreveport, Louisiana, 71107, Salem Cemetery - 2455 CO Road 4810, Atlanta, Texas 75551, or to charity of donors choice.
A visitation for Billy will be held Friday, November 15, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Hill Crest Memorial - Blanchard Chapel, 356 Warriner Ave, Shreveport, Louisiana 71107.
A graveside service will occur Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 10:00 AM on the Salem Cemetery, 2455 CO Road 4810, Bloomburg, Texas 75551 with Pastor Eugene Bryson officiating.
Honoring Billy as pallbearers will be Doug McCoy, Ray Moore, Ben Poole, Jackson Poole, Ken Lawler, and Matthew Nesbit.
The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to Ken Lawler, the ER staff of Willis-Knighton North and the 2nd Floor-Step-down unit staff, Billy's church family and friends for their prayers, support, care and condolences during such a difficult time.
