Stephanie Inez Bryant was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, November 29th, 1959, to Rex Bryant and Nannette Phillips Bryant. She passed away December 22nd 2017 at the age of 58. Visitation will be Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 at Centuries on Mansfield Road. Services will be held at Rose Park Baptist Church on Buncombe Road, Shreveport, LA Friday December 29, 2017, at 10:00 AM followed by internment at Forrest Park West.
She was preceded in death by her father Rex Sterling Bryant. She is survived by her mother, Nannette Bryant; son, Alexander Brasher; sister Tracy Noplis and husband Russell; brothers Sterling Bryant and wife Sharon, Charles Bryant and wife Susan; nieces Rachel Davis and Hannah Bryant; Nephews Chad Bryant, Chase Bryant, Chet Bryant, and Rex Bryant. She was also a great Aunt to Ian and Oliver whom she greatly adored. She loved animals and left behind her faithful and beloved companion Winter (Bubba) in the care of her family. Cousins, Casey and Clint Phillips will join her nephews in the honor of being pallbearers.
Stephanie will be remembered for her wonderful smile, sharp wit, and flare for fashion and life. She was very proud of her only son, Alexander, whom she loved very much. She also loved having a vintage store on Etsy with her sister Tracy. Upon learning of her diagnosis of ALS in February 2016, the onset of her illness could be dated back to the fall of 2015, when her speech first became impaired. She set out on multiple trips over the summer and fall of 2016, including a 10 day, British Isle Cruise with Tracy, Rachel, and Ian. She fell in love with Scotland, men in kilts, and the bagpipes, and shortly after she got back, she planned and took a cross-country road trip with two good friends, Sharon and Juanita, to the Bitterroot Celtic Games and Gathering in Hamilton, Montana. Stephanie diligently researched her ancestry and genealogy, with 29,675 people in her family tree.
Stephanie handled her courageous battle against ALS with dignity and a determination to live as long as possible. She faithfully attended Rose Park Baptist Church and loved listening to praise music. Long after she lost the ability to speak, she was still witnessing to others and led a fellow PALS (Person with ALS) to Christ with the help of Barbara Wallenbeck, to whom the family wishes to express gratitude, for the love and care she extended to Stephanie during her fight with ALS. The family also wishes to thank the ALS association, Team Gleason, the members of the ALS support group, members of Rose Park Baptist Church, and the many medical professionals who were of great comfort and assistance to Stephanie.
