Services for Ronald Dee Jones will be held at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home at 8801 Mansfield Rd, Shreveport, LA 71108. Visitation will be on Wednesday October 16, 2019 beginning at 1:00pm in the Chapel with services to immediately follow beginning at 2:30pm.
Ronnie is survived by his wife of 51 years Bonnie K. Lewis Jones; His Daughter Alicia Janae Jones; son Troy Jones and wife Marijo and Daughter Lacey Ada-Beth Jones; Brothers David Jones, Johnny Roden and wife Arleene, Wayne Roden and wife Debbie; His Brother-in-law Barry Lewis and wife Melissa and his Sister-in-law Martha Ballard and husband Randy. Ronnie left behind several grandchildren; Devin Gaddy and husband Curtis, Cameron Cobb, Lewis Jones, Grace Dougherty, Aiden Jones, Audrey Jones, Amelia Dougherty, and two great grandsons; Mattox and Cole Gaddy, extended family Shelia Boyett and Vickie Leckie and several nieces and nephews.
Ronnie was born on November 25th, 1945 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He is preceded in death by his mother Sylvia Mae Aynes Jones Roden, his Stepfather Malcom Lee Roden, his Father Henry Walton Jones and his sister Leta Ann Newberry and husband James. He served with honor as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corp from 1964 to 1973 and was a Vietnam Veteran. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Navy Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Vietnam Service Medal with three stars, Presidential Unit Citation, and Meritorious Mast.
After his military service, he worked as a machinist and maintenance mechanic for several petroleum companies in the Shreveport area. Ronnie was a loving father, a Freemason and an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends. His greatest love, however, was time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren who lovingly called him Papa.
Pall bearers will be David Jones, Johnny Roden, Wayne Roden, Barry Lewis, Randy Ballard and Ricky Waggoner along with members of the Masonic Fraternity.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers that a donation in Ronnie’s name be made to a charity of your choice. The family would also like to thank staff at the Overton Brooks V.A. Medical Center, Dr. Kilaru, Dr. Gallagher and the staff at Regional Hospice Care especially his nurse Tricia.
