Services for Peggy McGuire Brooks, 78, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 2, 2010, at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Officiating will be Reverend Guido Verbeck of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Eulogy will be given by Mr. Dave Davis. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12pm until 2pm prior to the service on Tuesday.

Peggy was born September 16, 1932, in Shreveport, LA. She passed away, Sunday, October 31, 2010, at her home following a lengthy illness which she fought with great faith, courage, strength, and grace, while steadfastly surrounded by her loving children. Mr. and Mrs. Brooks ran Tommies Novelty for fifty years. She was an exemplary mother and grandmother whose greatest source of joy was derived from her family to whom she was passionately devoted.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Thomas McGuire and Augusta Strong McGuire; and brother, William Thomas McGuire. She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Aubrey Edwin Brooks; children, Terri Brooks Sour and husband, Johnny, Debbie Brooks, and Tommie Brooks and wife, Julia; grandchildren, Michael Sour, Matthew Sour and wife, Kay, Taylor Anne Brooks, Paige Brooks, and Peyton Brooks.

Pallbearers will be Art McGuire, Don Barton, Grant Herrin, George Rose, Kenny Sawyer, and David Oliver.

The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Sally Ball, Professional Home Health, and Odyssey Hospice. Also, a very special thank you to Anita, Becky, Barbara, and Shanda for their constant, gentle, loving care. You treated our mother as your own.
