Norma Jean Greenlee Burson, 87, went to be with the Lord on December 5, 2023. She was born on August 23, 1936 in Shreveport, LA to the late James Whitfield Greenlee and Jessie Humphrey Greenlee. Norma was a graduate of Byrd High School. She worked as an Administrative Assistant for a Bookkeeper in Ft. Smith, AR and worked for the Caddo Parish School Board.
Norma lived in Ft. Smith, AR for many years before returning to Shreveport, LA for the remainder of her life. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at a young age and her faith was very important to her. She instilled this faith in her children. Norma loved to travel with her late husband, Harold Dean Burson. Traveling with their American Legion friends and Korean War Buddies was something they both enjoyed. Her favorite time was spent with her family on their annual vacation to Ft. Walton Beach, FL and time in Oak Ridge, TN. Norma dearly loved her three sisters, Frances, Linda and Dianne.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Debra Burson Givens (Kevin) of Bossier City, LA, Elisabeth Burson Austin (Wayne) of Shreveport, LA and Nancy Burson Jordan (Manley) of Lake Charles, LA; sisters, Frances Larkin of Rosepine, LA, Linda Larkin (Bill) of Benton, LA and Dianne Jordan (Cranford) of Winnfield, LA; sister-in-law, Judy Parrish (Bill) of Dickinson, TX; grandchildren, Craig Upton (Alicia) of Haughton, LA, Brad Austin (Anna) of Bivins, TX, Tyler Austin of Vivan, LA, Molly Austin of Chicago, IL, Andrew Jordan (Sydney) of Lake Charles, LA and Alex Jordan (Ali) of Lake Charles, LA. She also leaves behind fifteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, J.W. and Jessie (Humphrey) Greenlee; her husband of 63 years, Harold Dean Burson; son-in-law, Danny John Upton; granddaughter, Lisa Diane Upton Jungina and many other beloved family members.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Chateau at Montclair especially Lisa, who took care of our Mom so compassionately.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 1:00 p.m., visitation starting at 12:00 p.m. at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Rd., Shreveport, LA. Bro. Billy Crosby will officiate her service. She will be laid to rest in Centuries Memorial Park immediately following. Honoring her as pallbearers will be Craig Upton, Brad Austin, Tyler Austin, Andrew Jordan and Alex Jordan.
