Nathan Ashby

Services will be held to celebrate the life of Nathan Adophus Ashby on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Blanchard Chapel. Officiating will be Pastors: Alton Ashby, Jr., Greg Johnson, and Calvin Hubbard.

Nathan was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on March 23, 1952. He was raised and resided in Blanchard, Louisiana. He graduated from Northwood High School in 1970 and then joined the United States Marines. During his time in the U.S. Marines, he completed Airborne School where he earned his Jump Wings. He served as a Field Radio Operator, as well as an Embassy Security Guard in Uruguay. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. Nathan dedicated 20 years of service as an Alderman to the Town of Blanchard. Many will tell you there has never been another Alderman who truly loved and served the Town of Blanchard as Nathan.

Nathan spent the majority of his career as a Refrigeration/AC mechanic. He retired from Bearing Service after 15 years as a Hydraulic Technician in 2022. In his early years, he spent time out on the lake with his family, water skiing and tubing. He loved riding motorcycles, especially taking cross-country trips with his brothers. His main passion was flying experimental aircraft at the Tater Patch Airport. If Nathan was not at home, you could probably find him at the Tater Patch visiting with family, flying the Challenger or Kit Fox, or moving dirt.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alton Monroe Ashby, Sr. and Aline Marie Ashby, sister-in-law Lynne Ashby, and honorary brother, Paul Wasson. Those left to honor Nathan’s legacy are his loving wife of 28 years, Jennie Ashby; children: April Berry, Diane Ashby Cervantes, Colton Fulco and wife Spring, Christy Jones and husband Casey; grandchildren: Morgan, Jonathan, Dylan, Zane, Maggie, Dakotah, Hunter, Ayden, Nathan, Devan, Hosten, Addy, Cam, Aline, Halle-Ann and great grandchildren; siblings Alton Ashby, Jr. (Cristi), Michael Ashby, Debra Johnson (Greg), Jimmy Ashby, and Pete Ashby (Tammy); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice for their love, comfort, and guidance throughout his last few days.
