Benjamin Matthew Isgitt was born in Shreveport, Louisiana to Jimmy D. and Maxine Rivers Isgitt on February 28, 1980. He was the youngest of two boys. He never met a stranger and was willing help anyone with anything. He was in his element when doing what he loved, which was fixing electronics, especially computers. Matthew enjoyed learning how to fix anything, sometimes including plumbing. Matthew went to his Heavenly home on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at the age of 43.
Matthew and his brother, Jonathan, were very close siblings. Jonathan wanted to share his fond memories of Matthew . "My brother, Matthew was born 10 years after me. Around the age of 20, I joined the Army and became a paratrooper. Being in the military, I missed his teenage years. I had to rely on brief visits when he, mom and dad would come see me or vice versa. We were alike in many ways while as far apart as you could get in others. We always kept a special close bond with family. Matthew was so smart when it came to computers, electronics and mathematical type things. I always laugh about the time I came back home after Desert Storm and took him to Toys R' US. Instead of looking at or picking out a toy, he wanted to find out about how the air conditioning ducts were placed and the time clocks controlling the electronics. He used to to talk to my uncle, Chris Rivers, about electrical stuff like he was an electrician. Matthew, we will miss you but we rejoice in knowing you had a reservation in Heaven."
Left to cherish his memory are his parents Jimmy and Maxine; his brother, Jonathan and his wife, Janis; nephews, Mitchell, Brandon, Jared and Louis and his wife, Rebbeca; his dear aunt, Rachel Free, along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ben and Beulah Isgitt; his maternal grandparents, Sam A. and Mary Louise Rivers; and his uncle, Douglas Free.
A visitation for Matthew will be held Monday, June 12, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home & Park, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108. A graveside will occur Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Mount Carmel Cemetery, 5049 Hwy 118, Mount Carmel, LA 71429 where he will be laid to rest. Honoring him as pallbearers will be Jared Frazier, Brian Phelps, Stanley Rivers, Thomas Rivers, Louis Rivers, Holden Rivers and Sam DeFrance.
The family would like express their sincere gratitude to Rachel Free for the beautiful flowers created for Matthew. He loved you so much!
