Lonnie retired as a Trackhoe operator. He was a truck driver for over 25 years. He received many awards through the years including a Million Mile Jacket, and driver of the month. He also received many safety and service awards during his career. Lonnie never met a stranger. He loved his family very much and would help anyone in need. He loved working in his garage and could build and repair anything. He especially loved camping, fishing, deer hunting, and working in the yard. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him best and loved him most.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his step daughter, Lisa Hunter; brothers, Archie, Richard, Norman, and Buddy; sisters, Kathy, Connie, and Sylvia.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Linda Marie Poindexter; step daughter, Susan DeFatta; step son, Brandon Hunter; son (previous marriage), Lonnie Wayne Poindexter; sister, Jackie Broussard; brothers, Doyle Poindexter, Teddy Poindexter (Lucy), and Johnny Poindexter; grandchildren, Sheyanne DeFatta, Haley DeFatta, Paizlei Hunter, Kaeson Hunter, Shaunda Poindexter, and Russell Poindexter. He is also survived by a number of friends.
A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held Friday, March 12, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Centuries Memorial Park, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana with Rev. John Sullivan officiating. Interment will take place at Centuries Memorial Park.
