Laura Jane Brown Dalrymple - Age 57 years young
Laurie entered this world on October 9, 1962. She was born in Shreveport, LA and was the 3rd & youngest daughter of Jack & Rowena Brown. Laurie, as her family lovingly called her, passed from this life on July 17, 2020 at home, losing her fight against a very sneaky & aggressive cancer.
Laurie is survived by her husband & the love of her life, of 13 years, Todd Dalrymple; her son Andrew Holland, Toni her soon-to-be daughter-in-law & her 5 grand-blessings, Caleb, Debanie, Aliyah, Skyler & Sawyer as well as her sweet niece, Misty Chelette. She is also survived by her older sisters, Terri Ford & Lisa Shepherd & their husbands Hank & Ron; her surrogate father Donnie Glascow; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews, cousins, aunts, uncles & in-laws. She is and will always be truly loved & missed, but never forgotten, by them all.
Laurie is preceded in death by her parents, Jack & Rowena Brown.
Laurie was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 14 on Cross Lake for 39 years, where she held numerous different offices over the years. She was also a 31-year member of the La Societe de Femme-Cabane Nationale, an organization that provides aid and assistance to war veterans where, up until her death, was the Judge Advocate for the state of Louisiana for 8 years. She always said, “a veteran needs someone to watch out for them and to care for them when needed” and Laurie always lived by her beliefs.
Laurie was the most loving, caring person anyone could know, and she never met a stranger. She touched so many lives in a positive, loving way and there will be so many, left behind who will miss her presence in their lives. She loved life and showed that every day in how she lived her life.
A service of remembrance will be held Thursday, July 23, 2020, 3:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be from 12:30 until service time at the funeral home. Please note that Laurie requested casual attire, to include camouflage.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you donate to the American Cancer Society.
Thanks go out to Dr. Kirtan Koticha & Staff, especially Jami Bounds Baker, at Christus Schumpert, as well as the staff from St. Joseph Hospice Care who were directly involved in her care. Special thanks to her niece Misty Chelette & her sisters Lisa Shepherd & Terri Ford for the loving care she received while at home during her final days.
We will love & miss you forever dear, Sister.
