Kenneth Roderick Hardcastle was born in Shreveport, LA, January 1,1931, New Years Day. He passed away August 27,2024 after a short illness. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 5,2024, in the church parlor at First Baptist Church located at 543 Ockley Drive, Shreveport,LA. A memorial services will follow in Frost Chapel at First Baptist Church. Officiating the service will be Ronney Joe Webb, Associate Pastor. Graveside services at Centuries Memorial Cemetery will follow. Ken's Ashes will be placed in the Veteran Garden II in Centuries Memorial Park, Shreveport, LA near his son.
Ken was the son of Willis Hardy Hardcastle and Ora Hopkins Hardcastle. In 1950 he graduated from Byrd High School, afterwards, he attended Louisiana Tech University graduating in 1954 with a B.S. Degree in Business Administration and Management, After graduating from college, Ken joined the United States Air Force and proudly served his country overseas as Captain for four years. After returning to Shreveport, he met and married Marjorie Johnson. Following in his father-in-law's footsteps, he went in the construction business. He is the owner and operator of K.R. Hardcastle Construction Company for 27 years. He built many FHA and VA homes in the Shady Grove and Golden Meadows areas in Bossier City. He was also a partner in Bossier Construction Company for a short while with his father-in-law, they developed in the Scott Street Housings in Bossier City and Leesville Housing Project at Fort Polk, Leesville, Louisiana. Ken served as president for the Shreveport/Bossier Home Builders Association; he was also president of the Shreveport/Bossier Civil Air Patrol, an auxiliary to the United States Air Force. He also flew for Civil Air Patrol for twenty two years as a Mission Pilot.
As a very young boy Ken loved the outdoors, walking in the woods with his dog "Sarge", he also loved the smell of fresh cut grass or the wind in his face while boating. He was a member of the Old Man's Hunting Club where he enjoyed hunting every year with his special buddies, Mike Swanson and Rodney Ford. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife. They shared many trips abroad, and they went on many beautiful cruises.
Ken was a member of First Baptist Church of Shreveport where he was registered as a " Cradle Baby". He was a devoted husband and father. He loved his God, his church and his friends.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Willis Santford Hardcastle and his son Rickey Dean Hardcastle. He leaves to cherish his memories are his wife of 66 years, his beloved son Chad Hardy Hardcastle and Joyce Graham Hardcastle, his sister-in-law Marjorie Brown Hadcastle of Arizona, his loving nieces Beverly Hardcastle Kosrow of Illinois and Linda Hardcastle Lightsey of Alabama, and a dear friend Mrs. John (Mikki) Prescott of Bossier City.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to his wonderful doctors, Dr. Jonathan Davis and Dr. Alla Sreedhara... for their kindness and caring for Kenneth. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that memorials be made to First Baptist Church, Shreveport or to their favorite charity.
