Joseph Wilson Rowe of Shreveport, Louisiana passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at the age of 75. He was born February 25, 1947 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Ava C. and Charles W. Rowe.
Joe honorably served in the US Navy for four years before his discharge. Joe loved to learn. He earned his Masters of Science at LSU. During his life he held many jobs, logger, plumber and maintenance worker. He worked at the VA Medical Center in Fayetteville, AR and the VA medical center in Shreveport, where he retired. While working at the VA he worked as GEMS (green environmental manager) the first of that position. His last job was working as a state park manager at Lake Claiborne in Louisiana. He was a jack-of-all trades.
Joe lived for his two grandchildren. He had a life-long hobby of tying Navy knots. He created ornamental works of art, selling several pieces of his work. This brought him great joy. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Kelly Jordan and husband Brandon of Coushatta, LA; grandchildren, Zachary and Matthew Jordan; brothers, C. Clifford Rowe and Howard "Butch" Rowe; sister, Carolyn "Susie" Webber; and special best friends, Tom Miller and Ken Oberlander.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Linda Woosley.
A visitation for Joseph will be held Sunday, September 18, 2022 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108, followed by a celebration of life at 2:30 PM. He will be laid to rest in Centuries Memorial Park. Pastor Jeff Phillips will be officiating the services.
