Joseph was a lifelong resident of Shreveport. He attended Fair Park High School, graduating in 1953. He was accepted into the Marine Corp January, 1954. He served in Korea as a member of the 42nd Mortar Company and was honorably discharged in 1955. Joseph then served in the reserves until 1957. During his military career, he received the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. Joseph met and married his lifelong love Mary Kathryn "Kathy" Ham on December 30, 1957 and took up his trade as a painter. He became one of the most sought after painters in Shreveport. He often said, "at one time or another, he had painted the inside and outside or both of nearly every home in the area at least once".
Joseph loved cars and car shows. He was a member of the Red River Modeler's Club and spent countless hours perfecting his goal to become a Master Modeler. He built historically accurate WW II aircraft. Many times he would construct tiny parts from scratch so as to maintain historical accuracy.

Our family thanks God for giving us a faithful, devoted dad who always worked hard to provide for his family no matter how hard the times were. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him best and loved him most.
