Shreveport, LA- Funeral services celebrating the life of John “Jack” Kevin O’Rourke, 76, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 10, 2012 in the chapel of Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Officiating will be Bro. Trey Lewis and Dr. Bill Robertson. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home.
Jack was born on August 16, 1935 in Jersey City, New Jersey and passed away on February 2, 2012 in Bossier City, LA. He was a member of The Truth Seekers Sunday School Class at Kingston Road Baptist Church in Shreveport, LA. Mr. O’Rourke was dedicated and devoted to his family. He was a doting father and grandfather. Jack was very crafty and enjoyed woodworking. He was very detailed and meticulous with everything he did. Jack was loved by everyone who knew him.
Preceding Mr. O’Rourke in death were his parents, James and Veronica O’Rourke and a daughter, Pamela O’Rourke.
Left to cherish beautiful memories of John is his wife of 39 years, Mavis O’Rourke; two daughters, Carol Edmonds and Sandy Ferguson; three sons, J.B. Willis, Jimmy Willis and Kevin O’Rourke; sisters, Terry Collins and Pat Murray; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and sister in law, Violet Robertson. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Honoring Mr. O’Rourke as pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Edmonds, Steve Ferguson and Bobby Cassidy.
The family suggests that memorials be made to Kingston Road Baptist Church, 8900 Kingston Road, Shreveport, LA 71118.
