James Fraiser was born in Shamrock, LA., on March 16, 1923, to the late William and Wavie Fraiser, and he was called to his heavenly home on October 1, 2022, in Keithville, LA. James was preceded in death by the love of his life, Doris B. Fraiser. They were together 41 years before she went to be with the Lord Jesus. They were devoted companions, traveling to every continent on the globe, often to assist with missionary work in various capacities. James used his gift of carpentry skills to serve the Lord by building and expanding many churches locally and abroad. James was a long-time member of Victory Tabernacle Church in Mira, LA. In his later years, he attended Word of God Ministries in Shreveport, LA.
James was a World War II veteran who proudly served in the U. S. Army and bravely fought in the battles of Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes Campaign (Battle of the Bulge) and Central Europe. James retired in 1978 as Assistant to the Fire Chief Dallas Greene of the Shreveport Fire Department after serving the Shreveport Fire Department for 32 years. James looked forward to his annual fireman retirees’ meetings, where he was honored as one of the longest-living retired Shreveport firefighters.
James liked to multitask. He built, remodeled, and sold several homes. Before becoming a broker, he was a realtor with Walter Hawkins Reality for several years.
One of the things James really enjoyed most in life was using his carpentry skills to help others. He also enjoyed traveling, long rides through the country, dining out and eating good food, visiting with old friends, and making new friends along the way! James’s last major project at the young age of 99 ½ years old was a high school homecoming float project for his great-granddaughter. Yes! It won first place!
James is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Doris, son Jerry Frasier, and sisters; Myrtis Jackson, Catherine Arrington, Helen Rivers, and Madeline Bilyeu.
Left to cherish the precious memory of James are Audrey McElroy, sister and James’s children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, and close dear friends.
Honoring J. W. Fraiser as pallbearers will be former and present firefighters of the Shreveport Fire Department.
Memorials may be made in honor of James W. Fraiser to the charity of the donor’s choice.
