Gary Lee Pittman

Gary was born on July 21, 1946, in Shreveport, LA and passed away on Tuesday afternoon, October 24, 2017. He will be remembered by many of Shreveport’s finest for all of his years in public service. Gary retired from the Shreveport Police Dept. in 1998 as a homicide detective and was instrumental in establishing the Domestic Violence Unit. After retiring from S.P.D., he worked as security for Willis Knighton Medical Center for another thirteen years. Gary was not all work though, he was also an avid golfer and loved the game.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Diana Raley Pittman; parents, Harvey H. and Margaret H. Pittman; and his in-laws, Earl and Frances Raley. Left to honor his memory is his son, Brett Pittman; sister, Karen Edington and husband Billy; niece and nephew, Lindsay Fine and Josh Edington; brothers-in-law, Jeff Raley and wife Teresa, and Earl Raley and wife Teresa; nephews, Zach Raley and wife Lauren, and Colton Raley; and aunt, Peggy Groves.
