Blanchard, LA- Services celebrating the life of Elizabeth (Dee Dee) Turpin Reese, 88, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday March 12, 2015 at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home in Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating will be Rev. Ralph Ford. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday.
Dee Dee Reese was born on February 4, 1927 and passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria.
Mrs. Reese was born in Natchitoches and later moved to Gilliam near the Cottage Grove area before moving to Shreveport and graduating from Byrd High School in 1943.
After attending Northwestern State University, she began working in the stenographic department at United Gas Corporation. She then served as a secretary to geologist John Scopes and also in the Peterson Drilling Company. Mrs. Reese’s love of children was depicted in her career of over 20 years as a school secretary and library assistant in both Blanchard Elementary and Northwood High Schools eventually retiring from the Caddo Parish School System.
Dee Dee was a member of the Onwego Study Club, Blanchard Baptist Church, and the Order of the Eastern Star. One of her greatest gifts was mentoring students in North Louisiana public schools by volunteering on numerous boards and coaching softball teams and other school events.
Mrs. Reese was preceded in death by her parents, Nanie Mears Thompson and Harry Hutton Turpin; sisters, Mary Turpin Bryan and husband Ed and Martha Thompson Scroggs and husband Bill and one brother, John Francis Turpin.
Left to cherish beautiful memories of Elizabeth are her loving husband of 67 years, Talmage R. Reese of Blanchard; daughter Cheryl Reese Wilson of Pineville; grandchildren, Terianne Wilson Ballard and husband Russell of Pineville and Christian Reese Wilson of Alexandria; 3 great grandchildren, Christian Nickolas Wilson, Cody Dale Ballard and Natalie Reese Wilson of Pineville; sister-in-law, Betty Lee Turpin of Blanchard and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are David Reeder, Mike Turpin, Russell Ballard, Cody Ballard, Christian Wilson Furniss Hood, and Tom Bueche.
