Don was born March 27, 1940, to Leroy and Etta Mae Johnson in Shreveport, LA, and passed away November 26, 2016. He graduated from Fair Park High School and continued his education at Louisiana Tech. Don met his future wife Judy, a first year teacher at Summerfield Elementary, while installing lockers at the newly opened school, and as they say, the rest is history. Don was an active member of Brookwood Baptist Church and enjoyed working with the four and five year olds in the church nursery. He loved spending time with his family and especially embraced the time spent with his granddaughter, Reese. Don was also known for his love of cats, and could often be found feeding strays, occasionally bringing several home. However, Regis the cat remained his favorite. Don was an avid tennis player and relished a competitive game of tennis with friends in his free time. He served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves and retired from South Central Bell in 2007.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Etta Mae Johnson. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Judy, and children Shannon Johnson, Heidi Arnold and husband Casey, granddaughter Reese Arnold, brother, Al Johnson, sister, Susan Kissinger, several nieces and a nephew.
Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Labenne, Gene Forest, Charles Turman, Brian Huber, Casey Arnold, Charles Morton, Bob Turner, and Joe Rainwater.
The family would like to thank the nurses for the special care shown to him at WKSouth. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to Parkinson's Research or Ninna's Road to Rescue.
