Cynthia Blom “Cindy” Phillips, age 75, a resident of Sophia, WV peacefully entered into eternal rest on January 11, 2024, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV after fighting a brave battle against illness. She was born on August 13, 1948, in New Orleans, Louisiana and adopted by the late Harold and Evelyn Blom of Waskom, Texas. She was blessed to connect and develop a loving relationship with her birth mother, the late Bernice Gibson and husband Russell of Sulphur, Louisiana. She was married to her soulmate, Samuel Patrick “Pat” Phillips on November 30, 1972, who preceded her in death in June 2001.
She is survived by her six sons Shawn Phillips and wife Cyndi of Benton, LA, Sam Phillips and wife Chris of Taylor, AR, Bo Phillips and wife Juli of Bentonville, AR, Joey Phillips and wife Becky of Amity, AR, James Phillips and wife Paige of Beckley, WV and Casey Phillips and wife Allison of Hampstead, NC, 21 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren who loved their “Mimi” very much. She is also survived by her brothers Russell, Gerald, Don, and Mark Gibson and their families.
Cindy loved flowers, family, her friends young and old, her puppies Mia and Bella, and her work in several different careers. All her careers involved taking care of others, which she did with tremendous energy and devotion. From a flight attendant to a paralegal to an office manager to her final position as “Guest Services and Loyalty Champion” for Holiday Inn, Cindy devoted her professional energies to providing the best experience and aesthetic she could – always doing her best to make people feel right at home, loved, and cared for. If there was an “extra mile” award, Cindy would earn a lifetime achievement.
Most of all, Cindy loved her husband Pat and her family, who will miss her each day but who takes comfort in knowing that we are all here in our temporary home, and we will be reunited again.
A celebration of life will be held for Cindy at Centuries Memorial Park and Funeral Home in Shreveport, LA on January 26, 2024. Friends may visit with family from 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm, with services at 2:30 pm officiated by long time friend and minister, Ronnie O’Neal with a graveside service to follow. Cindy’s 6 sons will serve as pallbearers.
