Betty Donn Jean was born April 1, 1936 to Mary E. and Cordy M. Powell in Duncan, Oklahoma. She dedicated her life to her husband and children. Betty and her husband, Robert, lived in Germany, Kentucky, and Alabama just to name a few through Robert’s service in the military. She and her family moved to Shreveport, LA where they lived the reminder of their lives and created many beautiful memories. She had a strong faith in Christ and even traveled with an evangelist when she was younger. Betty had a passion for working in the church where she was looked to as a spiritual advisor and minister. She loved cooking dishes like her locally famous homemade biscuits and chicken fried steak. She was a seamstress, and you could often find her making clothes for her children and grandchildren. She had a heart for caring for others. Noone entered her home as a stranger or left hungry.
Betty went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 24, 2021 at the age of 85. Betty is survived by five children (and spouses): Pam Pierce (James), Stephen Jean (Kate), Betty Jones-Haley (Roger), Michael Jean (Susan), and Teresa Sipos (Nick), fourteen grandchildren: Manny, Mario, Dana, Kassi, Kandace, Nicole, Katie, Tara, Kregg, Adam, Heather, Sophie, Elizabeth, and Sara and their significant others, and seventeen great grandchildren: Anna, Pierce, Hallise, Taylor, Addison, Rylan, Eleanor, Lila, Baylei, Brooklynn, Irilynne, Isabelle, Carson, Lucas, Lily, and Israel.
