Ruby was born July 24, 1921, in Pottsboro, Texas to Lee and Lottie (Butler) Drain. She and her family moved to Oklahoma when she was very young. Ruby met Estel Hunt while she was working as a live-in housekeeper for an elderly couple, and Estel ran a milk route. They were married May 24, 1941 in Tecumseh. He passed away July 7, 2008.
Ruby worked for a number of years at the Shawnee Garment Factory as a seamstress. She later worked as an Avon sales representative and for Newton Wall Company. She attended the Bible Temple Church until her health prevented her from attending.
Mrs. Hunt was preceded in death by her husband, Estel; her parents; three brothers, Calvin Drain, James Drain, and Junior Drain and three sisters, Lucille Day, Pauline Dutton and Leada Quay.
Survivors are two daughters and sons-in-law, Oleta Elliott and husband Tom of Shawnee and Kathy Garrett and husband Ron of Shawnee; six grandchildren, Diana Heffley, Dan McLaughlin, Mike McLaughlin, Tara Elliott, Kathy Baker and Tommy Elliott; six great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Juanita Megehee; two sisters-in-law, Lovie Drain and Phyllis Drain; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at Free Indeed Revival Ministries of Shawnee (formerly known as Bible Temple Church) with Rev. Guy Cagle officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
