Norman Everett Walker of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed away on October 10, 2023 at the age of 75. Norman was born in Marysville, California on August 13, 1948 to the late Everett Dale and Eva Ella Walker. Norman is survived by his wife of 52 years, Karen Walker and their 2 children; Brent Walker of Williams, CA and Becky Wingo of Shawnee, OK., along with their spouses, Sarah Walker and Jesse Wingo. He was a very proud Papa to his two grandchildren, Carson and McKinley Wingo. He is also survived by his two brothers; Owen Walker, and Don Walker and his wife Yvonne. Norman is also survived by many loved family members including in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that were like family.
At the time of his passing, he was residing at the Ardmore Veterans Center in Ardmore, Oklahoma, where he was lovingly cared for. Norman proudly served in the US Army during Vietnam where he earned a Purple Heart as well as many other honors. When Norman returned from Vietnam, he married the love of his life and started the family he had dreamed of. Norman served as a deacon at his church and loved Jesus with all of his heart. He loved camping and being outdoors throughout his life making precious memories with friends and family. Norman retired from the US Postal Service after 34 years of dedicated service and moved to Shawnee where he and his wife enjoyed watching their grandchildren grow. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
A visitation for Norman will be held Monday, October 16, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home, 44909 Highway 3, Shawnee, OK 74801. A graveside service will occur Tuesday, October 17, 2023 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery with a fellowship following at Rock Creek Baptist Church in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
