Henry Hicks, Jr. was born the June 30, 1946, in Claremore Oklahoma, to Henry Hicks Sr. and Berniece (Simmers) Hick. He joined the United States Army in 1966 and fought in Vietnam as a weapons infantryman. He was honorably discharged as decorated hero, receiving the Bronze Star Medal with Valor, Purple Heart, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal , and Sharpshooter National Defense Service Medal. He married Joe Ann Ratliff on May 9, 1993.
Henry was a big, strong man who would not think twice about helping a friend or family member in need. He would do anything in his powers to take care of someone he even slightly cared for. He would never judge, but damn sure wouldn’t hold back his advice. He loved his wife, his dogs, his truck, and Oklahoma Sooners football. We are all so unbelievably lucky to have known and been a part of Henry’s life and hopefully have all learned a thing or two from this heroic man.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joe Ann, of the home; his children Melissa Lopez and her husband, Marcos, Henry Hicks, II, Thomas Hicks, Angela Hicks, and Chris Harmon; his siblings, Elaine Hicks, Georgia Starr, Charlie Hicks, Larry Hicks, and Eileen Hicks; grandchildren, Monique Harmon, Henry Hicks IV, Antonio Hicks, Daniel Torres, Jessimia Hicks, Alexandria Hicks, Cilla Hicks, Mikayla Hicks, Angus Hicks, and Ava Hicks; and a great grandchild, Monica Hicks. He is also survived by his faithful dog, Fumby, who was always by his side, his partner in crime and chubby little lady who came along for the ride and an amazing group of friends who he was proud to call family and loved just the same.
