Deborah Lynette (Lau) Mills (40) from Shawnee, OK, lost her courageous 14 month battle with cancer on October 30, 2010. Her Shawnee home provided a soothing location to peacefully enter her new heavenly residence.
Debbie was born in Kansas City, KS, on September 15, 1970 to Donna and Charles Lau. In 1977, the family moved to Shawnee, OK, where she developed many lifelong friendships. Debbie’s brother, David, introduced her to The University of Oklahoma and it soon became her college home. She obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration while developing a loyalty to all things Crimson and Cream.
Murfreesboro, TN, always remained a special home as her first son, Jacob, was born there. Shortly after his arrival, a desire to be closer to family and grandparents in Shawnee became a reality. The births of Megan and Nicholas followed and Debbie’s proudest three life accomplishments were complete. Debbie took every opportunity to be with and to speak about her three miracles. Her children provided incredible happiness, contentment and profound love every day of her life.
While at OU she was a member of Delta Sigma Pi business fraternity, and later in Shawnee, a member of Alpha Mothers Club, Shawnee Junior Service League and Wesley United Methodist Church.
Debbie is survived by her husband, Carson of the home, her children, Jacob, Megan and Nicholas Whited, parents, Charles and Donna (Williams) Lau of Shawnee, brother and sister in law David and Barbara Lau, and nephews Jason, Colin and Kevin Lau of Flower Mound Texas, and numerous aunts, uncles, and other relatives.
Pallbearers will be her longtime close friends, John Rick, Scott Walker, Clifton Janney, Pete Barger, Allen Hubbard, and Scott Lynam.
We are thankful for the compassionate care provided to Debbie by the doctors and nurses at the McKinney Cancer Center and the Loving Care Hospice and Home Healthcare Providers. We are also deeply appreciative of the love, support and prayers from family, friends, and co-workers.
