She was the daughter of the late Charles R. Jaggers and Elizabeth Johnson Jaggers. Born on September 16, 1926 in Trenton, New Jersey, she was a resident of Allentown, New Jersey for 40 years before moving to Oak Island, North Carolina in 1992. She was the widow of Chalmer W. Carver, Jr. and sister of the late Charles R. Jaggers, Jr. and is survived by a son, Richard D. Carver and wife Cynthia and a daughter, Mary E. Tallman and husband William; five grandchildren, William C. Tallman III, Michelle Gray, Lynn Kabigting, Brian Carver, and Kristin Heter; and 10 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
Ruth was a graduate of Hamilton High School where she was Best All Around Girl Class of 1944 and graduated from Trenton State College (now College of New Jersey) in 1948. She taught kindergarten in the Hamilton Township schools mainly at Yardville Heights School for over 30 years. She was a member of NEA, NJEA, Yardville Heights PTA, and NJPTA.
Ruth was a former member of Christ Episcopal Church in Bordentown, New Jersey and attended St. James Episcopal Church in Wilmington, North Carolina. She also served as a volunteer at Dosher Memorial Hospital in Southport, North Carolina for many years.
A Memorial Service will be on Monday, November 25, 2024 at two o'clock in the afternoon at St. James Episcopal Church in Wilmington. Interment will be in Christ Church Cemetery in Bordentown, New Jersey at a later date.
