Kenneth was born on December 16, 1974 in Cumberland County to James S. and Elsie M. Dew. He is survived by his parents; son, Jimmie Dew; twin brother, Kevin Dew (Amanda); niece, Kaitlin Dew; aunts and uncles, Glenda Minges (Brett), Joe Marsh (Kevvy), Johnnie Dew (Charlotte), and Tony Dew (Barbara). He is also survived by a special cousin, Mitchell Melvin; other cousins, Daniel Melvin, Karen Davis (Billy), Kelly Parsons (Rob), Jessie Marsh (Paige), Ben Marsh (Melissa), Christy Dew (Christina), Melissa King (McCall), Melinda Collins (Charlie), Brooke Ward (Kendal), and Misty Dew; furbaby Cami; and special friends, Glenn Reece (Patsy).
Kenneth was preceded in death by his brother, Stephen Dew; paternal grandparents, Sonny and Christine Dew; maternal grandparents, Wilson and Frances Marsh; uncles, Earl Melvin, Owen Dew, Mike Dew, and aunt, Libby Dew.
Kenneth grew up in the Cumberland County Community of Gray's Creek, graduated from South View High School, attended UNC Wilmington and graduated from Fayetteville State University with a BS in political science and education. He proudly served his country in the US Navy aboard the USS Roosevelt in Iraq and Kosovo as an aviation electronics technician. He received the Sharpshooter ribbon, Good Conduct award, Sea Service Deployment ribbon, Navy Unit commendation, Kosovo NATO medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary medal, and Navy Achievement medal. Kenneth loved his time in the Navy and would spend hours telling about his service to anyone who would listen. Kenneth was truly a patriot and loved his country. He constantly read about the history of our great nation and kept up to date with politics and could debate any issue.
Kenneth grew up playing basketball, baseball, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and swimming. He loved spending time with his family and friends and was affectionately known as "Puddin" to his Gray's Creek buddies.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 30, 2024 at two o'clock in the afternoon at Cape Fear Baptist Church, 6041 Butler Nursery Road, Fayetteville, North Carolina 28306. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
