John Lewis Turner

Mr. Turner was born in Gaston County, North Carolina on April 22, 1953 and was the son of the late Thomas Willard Turner and Velma Hoffman Turner. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Renee Turner. He was a retired truck driver after 24 years with FedEx Freight and a member of the Linwood Church of God in Gastonia. He enjoyed bowling and had several 300 perfect score games along with being a World Champion Ms. Pac Man player. John was an animal lover, especially to his faithful companions, Magnum Blu, PJ, Coco and Susie Q.

He is survived by three children, Angela McManus and husband Ritchie of Ocean Isle Beach, Michael Turner and wife Kelly of Shelby and Susan Mellon and husband Brian of Shelby; grandchildren, Tyler McManus, Alec Senter, Alyssa Turner, Mackenzie Turner, Jayce Turner, Caleb Mellon, Joshua Mellon, Brianna Mellon and Eric Mellon; great grandchildren, Paisleigh Senter, Sadie Senter, Alex Hernandez; honorary grandchildren, Aubrey Shuford and Bentley Shuford; a brother, Thomas Turner Jr. and wife Joan of Gastonia; a sister, Linda Jenkins and husband Charles of Gastonia; and a very dear and loving companion, Carlene Shuford.

A memorial service will be held Sunday August 18, 2024 at three o’clock in the afternoon at McLean Funeral Directors Chapel in Gastonia with Reverend David Belle Ifle officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at McLean Funeral Directors.
