He was born in Brunswick County on July 31, 1939 the son of the late George William Reeves, Sr. and Mae Lewis Reeves who died during child birth and was raised by his father and the late Fannie Reeves Robinson and was preceded in death by two cousins John William Reaves and Victoria Reeves Gunther.
George was a long time resident of Brunswick County and retired after 33 years of service with Department of Transportation. He attended Sharon United Methodist Church until adulthood and attended Bible Baptist Church and New Covenant Church. George was loved by all his family and will be greatly missed especially by Nelda Bozeman who took care of him and Lee Coombs who loved him like a brother.
Surviving are his cousins Laten Reaves and his family; Pete Turner and his family and too many other cousins and family members to mention; a special companion, “Summer”.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 in the afternoon on Sunday August 6, 2017 at Sharon United Methodist Church by Pastors Norman Gunther, Cory Reaves and Tom Bias officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the service at the Church.
Pallbearers will be: Chris Bozeman, Jeff Gunther, Keith Gunther, Mike Gunther, Cameron Reaves and Craig Reaves.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Kenny Holden, Randy Stout and Robert Fulford.
