Dorothy Lu Oakley

Dorothy Lu Oakley, affectionately known as Dottie, of Largo, FL, passed away on June 7th, 2024, at the age of 72. She was born on November 22nd, 1951, in Toledo, Ohio, to Shirley Mae Gallagher and Clyde Duane Gallagher.

Dottie's journey was marked by love, dedication, and a profound sense of family. She graduated from Westerville High School and went on to earn her Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Tampa College. On May 5th, 1990, she married the love of her life, Lee Ernest Oakley.

Throughout her career in Finance at BIC, Dottie exhibited diligence and passion in her work. Yet, her true joy stemmed from her family and her interests. She had an enduring love for all things Thomas Kinkade, Lenox, Waterford, and a deep appreciation for Irish culture.

Dottie's legacy of love extends through her family. She is survived by her children, Mickey Shull and Dawn Marie Stine, and her grandchildren, Britney Nanos, Kristina Stine, Tavien Stine, and Courtney Ann Kane. Her great-grandchildren, Easton Nanos, Tessa Nanos, Sunjay Stine, and Mooneia Stine, will cherish her memory. Dottie is also survived by her siblings, Colleen Keithley, Kathleen Gallagher, and Victoria Gallagher, and her mother, Shirley Mae Gallagher.

In the tapestry of her life, Dottie is reunited with her loved ones who have gone before her, including Robert Gallagher, Shawn Gallagher, Patrick Gallagher, and Patricia Jo Gallagher.

Dottie's warmth, kindness, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A memorial service for Dorothy will be held Saturday, June 29, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Garden Sanctuary Funeral Home, 7950 131 Street North, Seminole, FL 33776. A committal service will occur Saturday, June 29, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM, 7950 131 Street North, Seminole, FL 33776. A reception will occur Saturday, June 29, 2024 from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM, 7950 131 Street North, Seminole, FL 33776.
