Helen Hill Core

Helen Hill Core passed away on September 20, 2010 at the age of 83. Helen was born in Wick, Tyler County, West Virginia on her grandparent’s farm. She lived most of her life in St. Marys, West Virginia. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in Parkersburg, West Virginia, September 1948.

She married her childhood sweetheart, Guy Core on December 29, 1949. In 1952, Guy, Helen, and their first daughter, Lois Ann moved from Lima, Ohio to Seguin, Texas. She put her nursing career on hold to devote her time to raising her daughters and supporting her husband. She returned to the nursing profession in 1968 at Seguin Convalescent Home. She later retired from Seguin I.S.D. as a school nurse. She enjoyed volunteering for various civic organizations, entertaining and caring for friends, and spending time with her family.

Helen was preceded in death by her devoted and loving husband of 58 years, Guy Core. Survivors include three daughters: Lois Core Wink and husband Robert of Bellville, Conny Core and companion Pat Casey of Nacogdoches, Lynn Core Pyburn and husband Alan of Mesquite; 7 grandchildren: Jackie and Ric Lancaster, Weston and Suzanne Pyburn, Hailee and Nick Goellner, and Chas Pyburn; 2 great grandchildren: Emily and Robert Lancaster.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, September 23rd at First United Methodist Church, with interment following at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.
