A loving and devoted husband, Bill/Dad/Pop-pop/Dr. Bill Visconti passed away peacefully in his sleep, three days prior to his 95th birthday. Bill attended Georgetown University, St Peters College (BA Chemistry) Seton Hall University (MA Education) Philadelphia College of Osteopathy (DO). Prior to becoming a Physician, he worked as a chemist, a high school teacher. He remained committed to his private practice in Hoboken for over 40 years and served as President of the NJ Osteopathic Physicians Society. In this capacity he helped direct the scholarship program of the organization. Bill was also a US Army veteran having served at the end of WWII.
From the 1950s through the 1990s he served the community of Hoboken as a General Practitioner and was known to his patients as “Dr. Bill”. He tended to numerous kids involved in Little Ferry sports leagues and many neighborhood families knew him as their “urgent care”. To his many long-time friends (all of whom he loved to the end) he was just plain Bill. He cared for the disadvantaged and never left his patients in Hoboken for greener pastures. He taught his children by example showing generosity and kindness to all. To his large network of extended family, he was a kind and caring uncle, brother, and brother-in-law who spoke kindly and honestly with a quirky sense of humor.
He led a full life guided by three main precepts: importance of education, humility, and family.
He passed on his strong belief in the value of education to his children whom he advised and encouraged to find what you love, work hard, and be the best at whatever path you chose. Bill generously provided opportunity and support for all of his family, children, and grandchildren.
All of the Visconti and O’Connor families are grateful for everything he has done for us and the love he gave to everyone who knew him and even to those that did not know him. While we are saddened at his passing, we take comfort knowing that Bill is at peace, reunited with Joan and other family members whom he loved deeply. Eternal peace is now yours so please look down from heaven and continue to care for our family and friends who will miss you so very much.
