Pat Hines grew up in Boise, Idaho with his parents, Harold and Margaret Hines, and his brothers, Tony and Steve. They spent their summers in Colorado at their grandmother’s cabin where he developed his love of hiking and the outdoors.
Later the family moved to Seattle WA and built a house in Lake Forest Park, fondly known as Hinesite. Pat attended the University of Washington receiving a degree in forestry engineering. He then attended Stanford for his Masters in Business and taught navigation for the Navy.
While at Stanford he met Ruth Johansen who he married in 1964 and they lived in Roseburg, Oregon. Pat managed Roseburg Lumber Mill and they had Krista in 1965 and Kari in 1967.
In 1974 the family moved to Seattle where Pat managed a fishing boat insurance company in Seattle. Derek was born in 1975. Pat and Ruth designed and built their family home that they moved to in the fall of 1981.
While always supporting Ruth as a Jehovah’s Witness, Pat became a baptized witness July of 1994. He was an active member of the Ballard Congregation.
Pat enjoyed spending time together with his family and friends at the Oregon Coast, Lake Chelan, lakes, rivers and Puget Sound. He loved tinkering on cars, boats and teaching others (especially his kids and grandkids) how to fix things.
We all look forward to welcoming Pat back, enjoying all the fun times again.
