Robert Edward Young, 73, of Peoria, Arizona, passed away on October 8, 2006, at his home with his loving family with him. He was born in Seattle, Washington, on March 7, 1933. He was a 1952 graduate of Lincoln High School, where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Sonya, who passed away in 1981. He is now survived by his loving wife, Jackie, his three children, Michael wife Joanne, Peggy Moore husband, Terry, in Kirkland and Cathy McArthur husband, Edward in Gresham, Oregon; two step-children, Lisa Delling in Bellingham and Julie Hylland husband, Dave in Yuma, Arizona. He has 9 grandchildren, Andy, Jeremy and Stephanie Young, Adam and Cory Harruff, Jennifer and Christopher Spencer, Samantha Hylland and Blaze Selby. He is also survived by his sister, Shirley Wood, and sister-in-law, Claudia Young. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilfred and Jean Young, and brother, Bill Young. After graduation from high school, he was in the Navy reserves. He attended Edison Technical College and University of Washington. Before he retired from Guardsman Chemical after 25 years, he was with Safeway and Associated Grocers. He dedicated many years to Bellevue Little League, both in coaching and development of that league in the 1960?s and 70?s. His continued love for sports was shown in having season?s tickets to the Seahawks for 20 years, attending the U of W Huskies? games for over 3 decades and many Mariner games. After retirement in 1999, he moved to Peoria, AZ, in the winter and summers in Birch Bay, Washington. He will be remembered for his great strength, his positive attitude, sense of humor and his love and devotion to his family and friends. A memorial service was held in Peoria, Arizona, on October 11th and an additional service will be held in Seattle, Washington, on Saturday, October 21st, at 12:00 PM at Evergreen-Washelli Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 11111 Aurora Ave. N. Internment will follow at 1:00 PM.
