Richard Eric “Ric” Stahl, 77, died September 11, 2022, at home in Kenmore, WA. He was born May 30, 1945, in Buffalo, NY, the youngest son of Alva “Bud” Stahl and Ardis (Stine) Stahl . The family moved around a lot during Ric’s childhood, eventually settling down in the Seattle area.
Ric graduated from Ingraham High School, class of 1963, where he met Karen Rader. Following graduation, he attended Edison Tech and worked for NOAA before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1967. After serving a year in Thailand at a communications base, he returned to the United States and married Karen two weeks later. They spent the last year of Ric’s service at Fort Huachuca, AZ before he was honorably discharged. After discharge, they returned to the greater Seattle area. Ric went to work for the Applied Physics Lab at the University of Washington in the early 1970s, where he enjoyed performing technical work alongside his good friends until his retirement in 1999. Following retirement, Ric kept busy performing contract work for the APL and NTR, before pursuing his hobbies of motorcycles, cars, and technology. Richard and Karen raised two children (Michael and Joanne) and celebrated 53 years of marriage in June of 2022.
In addition to his wife, Karen (Rader) Stahl, Richard is survived by his son, Michael Stahl and his wife, Robin Swank; daughter, Joanne (Stahl) Mueller and her husband, Eric Mueller; and grandchildren, Abagail Stahl, Alyssa Mueller, and Jonathan Mueller. He is also survived by his sister, Katherine Uhrich, and her husband Robert Uhrich; brother Frederick Stahl and his wife, Audrey Stahl; and brothers, David Stahl and Robert Stahl.
