Nancy was born on Valentines Day in 1948 to Clyde and Lois (Butin) Jarnagin in Prairie City, Iowa. She was raised with her two sisters, Janet (Stover) and Ann (Pendroy). In 1971 she married James Pieper and together they had two sons, Shane and Cody. In 2012, Nancy moved from Iowa to Washington state with close friends.
Nancy lived sharing the word of God and guiding people towards Jesus Christ as their savior. Her love for all children was paramount throughout her life from raising her sons, teaching preschool, Sunday school, daycare, tutoring, opening a restaurant where young people could congregate, visit, and listen to the jukebox. Her care of others was inherent, and she loved people from every walk and time of life. Nancy was a member of Caring Hands, a group where she quilted bedrolls for Seattle homeless. Regina C., a faith counselor at HarborView Trauma Center, where Nancy was treated, introduced herself to Shane and Cody soon after their arrival at the hospital. Regina expressed her extreme sadness at seeing their mothers’ name on the patient roster; she had known her from Caring Hands. Regina provided comfort in the following days and prayed over Nancy frequently. Her sons, heartbroken by her loss, are blessed to have been with their mother in her final moments.
Nancy was predeceased by her parents and sisters. She is survived by her sons, Shane (Karen) of Dallas, Texas and Cody of Los Angeles, California. She is also survived by her close companion, Adam Banales.
Nancy requested in her life - the Jarnagin standard - of not holding services. Those who loved Nancy are encouraged to make a memorial to a charity or organization where she donated such as, Christian Appalachian Project or Hour of Power or to recognize the care that Nancy received by making a charitable gift to University of Washington Medicine.
