Born and raised in Seattle, a town she loved and never left, Laurel proudly attended Garfield High School, Washington State University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.).
Laurel’s unparalleled passion and the determination was showcased in her telecommunication studies and skills along with decades of success in training & design. The zeal Laurel had for life expanded into an endless list of social events, hobbies and adventures.
An amazing woman and mother, Laurel will be remembered for the most incredible & wonderful smile. Her joyous laughter would brighten any room and she had an ongoing infectious energy that never ceased to amaze anyone. Her loyalty to all of her friends was constant and she had the utmost love for all of her immediate and extended family.
Laurel will be dearly missed and always remembered by many.
Laurel was predeceased by her parents Lawrence L. Winston & Cecelia L. Winston and son Robert W. Bowens III. She is survived by her husband Jerry W. Smith, siblings Patricia Middleton, Charlotte Smith, and Lawrence Winston Jr., sons Jason S. Bowens and Randall W. Bowens, as well as a wealth of additional family and friends.
Instead of a traditional service, Laurel requested a celebration of life be held in her honor.
