Jesse was born in Galveston, Texas, on July 1st, 1941. When Jesse turned eighteen, he enlisted in the Marine Corps. After serving his country, Jesse lived in Washington State for the rest of his life. He treasured reminiscing of times he spent camping, hunting, and fishing with family in the Pacific Northwest.
Jesse loved sports and rooted for the Huskies and the Seahawks, his favorite Washington State football teams. He enjoyed cooking and baking; he saved all his recipes and cherished eating with family and friends at local diners. He is remembered for trying to pay the bill first before others had a chance to do so. He was also known to "pay it forward" at McDonald's by paying for the people in line behind him.
Jesse was the oldest of twenty siblings ranging in age from 55 years to 80 years. He is survived by his children Robert and Julia and his stepdaughters Lana, Rosalyn (Rosie), Delphine, and Azalea (Kay). Siblings- Mary, Julia, Joe, Gloria, Pete, Erma, Othilia (Tela), Juan, Oscar, Alex, Elva, Manual, Diana, Arthur, and Anita. As well as many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
Jesse is preceded in death by his mother, Seferina Quiles, father Catarino Hernandez, Sisters Elvira (Veta) and Aurora, brothers Robert (Poncho) and Roy, and his son Marcus Hernandez.
A private service will be held at Acacia Memorial Park and Funeral Home 14951 Bothell Way, Seattle WA 98155 on October 24th at 10 am. Celebration of Life to follow at the North Hill Community Center 20827 3rd Ave S, Des Moines WA 98198 at 12 pm.
