Jean I Watson completed her journey and is now at rest. She lived 94 fulfilling years before passing away peacefully on June 29, 2021 in the Seattle home she resided in for 51 years. Jean was born September 13, 1926, in Everett, Washington to Olive (Spitler) and Allan Watson. She attended school in Mt. Vernon and Everett, and graduated from Everett High School and the University of Washington. After a short stint working for Boeing, Jean worked 30 years for United Airlines. This allowed her to follow her passion and travel to many places both domestic and international.
Jean was known for her kindness, keen sense of humor, unwavering independence, ability to work with her hands and fix things, and her love of animals. She enjoyed music, sports and attending the theater. Jean was a loyal friend and much loved and devoted daughter, sister and aunt. She will be greatly missed.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her older brother, Donald G. Watson, and her lifelong friend, Mildred Piergrossi. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Madge Watson, nieces and nephew, Elaine (Steve) Koenig, Marian Montgomery, and Ian (Jamie) Watson, grandniece, Jenna Montgomery, and grandnephews, Nolan Koenig, Eric Montgomery, Nathan Watson and Alec Watson.
At her request, no services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to an animal shelter or other organization that finds forever homes for animals.
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you wake in the morning hush
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there. I do not sleep. (A Native American memorial on death)
