WATSON – Elsie Marie, aged 97, of Kirkland. Beloved wife of the late George Watson, mother of David and Anne; grandmother of Ross, Amber and Jim and great-grandmother of Aiden, Evan and Lindsay. Elsie passed away on February 14th, and until very recently she had been happy, alert, and living each day to its fullest. Besides her family and those close to her, the greatest love of Elsie’s life was hybridizing rhododendrons and her gardening friends. Many of the hybrids she created, such as “Blue Boy,” thrive today in gardens around the world. She was a founding member of the Seattle Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society and active in a host of other rhododendron associations. Her family and close friends will remember Elsie as an eternal optimist who delighted in mentoring others. She set an example for those around her of how to live life to its utmost value. Elsie will be lovingly recalled in a memorial service on April 17th at the family home, when her garden will be in full bloom. Memorials may be made to Meerkerk Rhododendron Gardens, P.O. Box 154, Greenbank, WA 98253.
