Born in Kewanee, IL. on August 8, 1929; died July 11, 2024 in Seattle at age 94.
After serving as a photographer in the Navy, Don graduated from Northwestern University, Southern Illinois University, and Oklahoma State University.
He taught math at Heidelberg College for ten years and at Ohio Northern University for nearly twenty years. In his later years, Don and his wife moved to Seattle, where Don took art classes, shared his love of bad jokes, and continued to read and do math puzzles.
He became a beloved member of the Hearthstone community in 2017, where he resided until his death.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth, his parents, and five siblings, and is survived by daughters, Megan Zalkan and Dana Buckley, three grandchildren, and extended family and friends.
