Clarice LaVerne Slade was born December 20, 1938, in Longview, TX to the parents of Mack Lee Holbert & Gladys Golden Stoker.
She moved to Seattle at the age of six, attended Seattle public schools, Garfield High School and the University of Washington for accounting. Clarice was employed at Public Health Hospital for twenty years and retired from Providence Hospital with twenty years of service. After retirement from Providence Hospital Clarice continued working at H&R Block for 18 years until her health started to fail...
Clarice attended Mt Baker Missionary Baptist Church where she was a member for over twenty-five years.
She loved playing bingo and slots...She was a woman of little words and a beautiful soul; had a heart of gold and took care of everybody. Clarice had many adopted kids that called her "Mom".
Clarice is preceded by her parents Mack Lee Holbert and Gladys Golden Stoker; husband, Gene Raymond Slade; sons, Eugene Holbert and Alize Slade; daughters, Theresa Lee, and Margene Stenson; 3 brothers, Prenton Holbert, Welton (Butchie), and Walter Lee Armstead.
She leaves to cherish her memories her daughters, Mildred Givens (Elmer), Marilyn Slade-Scott, and Constance Clay (Oliver), all of Seattle, Rossia Avery (Clifford) of Dallas, TX, sons Mervin, Carleton, and Lugene Slade; all of Seattle, one sister Willie Ruth McKinney, four brothers, Warren, Wilford, Wendell and Wesley Armstead all of Seattle, 35+ grandkids, 50+ great grandkids and 10+ great great grandkids, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
We Love you MOM...and you will be forever in our hearts. Until we meet again, we will miss your presence.
