Carol was born in Portland, Oregon on April 6, 1936. She passed away peacefully on January 24, 2023 from diabetes complications. She was 86 years old.
Her family moved to Seattle in 1950. Carol attended Lincoln High School, graduated from the University of Washington and received a Master's degree in audiology from the University of Hawaii.
Carol taught for 31 years in Shoreline School District. She started the program for deaf and hard of hearing children with the goal of fitting them with powerful hearing aids so they could learn to talk and, thereby, be mainstreamed into a regular classroom. In 1996 Carol helped create a private school in Seattle, LISTEN AND TALK, for young deaf and hard of hearing children to help them to listen and talk. Carol's husband, Randy, was also a teacher. They both loved to travel especially to Mexico and Europe.
Carol is survived by her sister, Joan Bellman, niece, Kathy Tinoco (Joe), nephew Dan Bellman, great nephews, Will Tinoco and Steven Tinoco, and great niece, Anna Tinoco.
A celebration of Carol's life will be held at University Presbyterian Church, 4540 15th Ave. NE, Seattle, on Sunday, February 12 at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Listen and Talk, 8244 122nd Ave. NE, Kirkland, WA, 98033
