Beverly Petersen Baisden Johnston

Beverly Petersen Baisden Johnston, our beloved angel mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully in her Pleasant Grove home on Wednesday, October 9, 2019. Beverly was born in Seattle, Washington on August 10, 1925 to William and Martha (Ferguson) Petersen.

Despite growing up during the depression, Beverly remembered her childhood with delight. She loved re-enacting movies with friends, running foot races, hiking, swimming, enjoying time outdoors, and spending time with family and friends.

Beverly attended Cleveland High School where she served as captain of the girls volleyball team, vice president of the girls club, and vice president of her senior class. She graduated from Cleveland High School in 1944.

She worked for Boeing during World War II. At the end of the war, Beverly received her undergraduate education at the University of Washington and the Metropolitan Business College in Seattle.

On August 23, 1947, Beverly married John Richard Baisden in the University Christian Church. Later, after her husband joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, they were sealed together in the Los Angeles Temple. They built their first home at Bitter Lake, Washington, where they raised their three surviving children.

Beverly celebrated life with optimism, resilience, character, and humor. She was a devoted wife and mother. Beverly worked side-by-side with her husband in their coowned and operated businesses. Later in life, they also co-managed a time-share community.

Beverly enjoyed storytelling, entertaining, homemaking, horseback riding, swimming, snow skiing, water skiing, and traveling. In 1988, her beloved husband, John Richard (aka Jack) Baisden passed away in Edmonds, Washington.

As a widow, Beverly was employed as a private nanny and later senior caregiver for two life-long friends.

Beverly married Park Willis Johnston on June 5, 1994 in the Provo Utah Temple. Her beloved husband, Park passed away March 3, 2002 in American Fork, Utah.

Beverly was beloved by many. She will be fondly remembered as a woman of faith. She was a wonderful friend, daughter, wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma, and great-great grandma. She found joy in hard work. Beverly was tender-hearted, nurturing, and compassionate which led her to serve others almost on a daily basis throughout her life. She appreciated beauty whether she found it in nature, the face of a child, the arts, or the special details that made her home a lovely, inviting place.

Beverly was preceded in death by her spouses John R. Baisden and Park W. Johnston, son David M. Baisden, granddaughter Vanessa M. Baisden, parents William A. and Martha E. Petersen, and half-siblings: Lillian (Walter “Bud”) Balmert, William A. (Lorraine) Petersen, Garith G. (Ruth) Petersen, J. Dale (Christina) Petersen, Gloria M. Petersen, and G. Joy Gathercoal, and sister-in-laws Virginia (Edward) Paulson, and Bette (Robert) Nord.

Beverly is survived by her three children: John W. (Charmaine) Baisden, Carol (Carl Bell, deceased, and Tom Lemke) Bell, and Linda Baisden. She is also survived by twenty-one grandchildren, fifty-three great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 13, 2019, 3:00 p.m., in the Olpin Family Mortuary Chapel, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove, Utah, with a visitation from 2:00 - 2:45 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 18, 2019 in Acacia Memorial Park, 14951 Bothell Way NE, Seattle, Washington.
