Betty Poulos (better known to everyone as Nanie) was born on February 22, 1925 in La Grande, Oregon, daughter of Edith Elizabeth and William Edwards. Betty's childhood years were spent living between Oregon and Idaho. She graduated from Mountain Home High School class of 1943 in Mountain Home, Idaho. Betty's first job was working for the telephone company as an operator. During the war she worked at the air base packing and issuing parachutes to soldiers. In September 1947 Betty moved from Norfolk, Virginia to Boise, Idaho and became a mother to a beautiful baby girl which she named Maxine. In September 1948 Betty became a mother for a second time to a handsome baby boy she named Bill.
Betty moved back to Seattle in 1952 then ventured to Honolulu, Hawaii in 1955 where they resided until 1961 when they moved back to Washington to make it their home. Working at the Olympic Hotel in Seattle and retiring from Decorama in Southcenter in 1980. In that same year she married Bill (Papou) Poulos. Betty enjoyed traveling and spent time in Australia, Thailand and Florida with Papou. Nanie and Papou remodeled the Mill Street house to make it one of their own. Nanie loved spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up.
